국제한국어통번역학회 설립취지

21세기는 학문 영역의 상호 연계와 발전이 두드러진 시대입니다. 특히 언어, 문화, 다양한 매체의 발전이 그 중심에 있습니다. 이러한 학문적 흐름 속에서 한국어와 한국문화의 국제적 위상은 점점 높아지고 있으며, 이에 따라 한국어 교육과 한국문화 교육의 중요성도 더욱 강조되고 있습니다. 그러나, 한국어 교육의 범주 내에서 한국어를 중심으로 하는 통역과 번역 교육에 대한 연구와 논의는 아직 충분히 활성화되지 못한 실정입니다.

본 학회는 이러한 배경 아래 설립되었으며, 학회의 주요 취지는 다음과 같습니다.

첫째, 언어와 문화가 상호 작용하는 표면 현상과 그 내면의 배경 연구를 통해 새로운 한국어 통번역의 학문적 영역을 구축하고자 합니다.
둘째, 한국 언어문화와 여타 세계의 이질 언어문화와의 대조 연구를 통해 국제 사회 속에서 한국 언어문화의 정체성을 확립하고, 이에 대한 올바른 언어 간, 문화 간 전환 방법과 소통을 모색하고자 합니다.
셋째, 외국인 한국어 통번역사 양성과 더불어 한국어 학습자를 위한 통번역 교육의 보급에 주력하려 합니다.
넷째, 한국 사회 안에서 다양한 문화가 함께 숨 쉴 수 있도록 이주민과 외국인의 정주 안정을 위한 기본 네트워크로서 지역사회 통번역사 양성에 노력할 것입니다.

이를 위해 본 학회는 한국 언어와 문화, 그리고 통번역학의 이론적 연구와 더불어 타문화와의 대조 연구를 통해 언어와 문화에 대한 체계적인 학문 영역 구축에 힘쓸 것입니다. 또한, 한국어 통번역 교육을 위한 연구와 논의를 활성화시켜 국제 사회에서 한국어 통번역 교육의 해외 보급을 주도할 것입니다.

The 21st century is marked by the interconnection and development of academic fields, with language, culture, and various media at its core. Amidst these academic trends, the international status of the Korean language and culture is steadily rising, and the importance of Korean language and cultural education is increasingly emphasized. However, within the scope of Korean language education, research and discussions on interpretation and translation education centered around the Korean language have not yet been sufficiently activated.

Our association was established against this backdrop, and its main purposes are as follows:

First, through the study of the surface phenomena of language and culture and their underlying backgrounds, we aim to establish a new academic field of Korean interpretation and translation.

Second, through comparative studies between Korean language and culture and those of different countries, we seek to establish the identity of Korean language and culture in the international community and explore proper methods of interlingual and intercultural communication and conversion.

Third, we aim to focus on the training of foreign Korean interpreters and translators, as well as the dissemination of interpretation and translation education for Korean language learners.

Fourth, we will strive to train community interpreters and translators as a basic network to ensure the settlement and stability of immigrants and foreigners within Korean society.

To achieve these goals, our association will work towards systematically establishing academic fields related to language and culture through theoretical research in Korean language and culture, as well as comparative studies with other cultures. Furthermore, we will activate research and discussions on Korean interpretation and translation education and lead the dissemination of Korean interpretation and translation education abroad based on Korean language and cultural education in the international community.
